Earlier this year Bath’s Assembly Rooms rang to the sound of swing when all the glitz and glamour of Hollywood came to Bath. Today the fruits of that event were given to three local charities at a lunch reception in the Chairman’s office.
The Chairman, Cllr Bryan Chalker was raising money for three Bath charities, the Forever Friends Appeal, ‘Space to Grow’ NICU unit; The Somerset County Royal British Legion Welfare Fund and the Bath Cats and Dogs Home. At a reception held in the Guildhall Cllr Chalker was able to hand over a cheque to each of those charities from monies raised on the night.
Cllr Chalker said: “In what has been a difficult financial period for everyone I was delighted that we were still able to raise some well needed money from what was a fantastic event. Everyone who came was extremely generous and judging by the comments had a wonderful time along the way – I am very grateful to those that came and to our sponsors for their unstinting support as always”.
Amongst those picking up cheques today were Sue Tucker and Tim Hobbs from the Forever Friends Appeal and Sarah Thorn and Chris Pole from the Bath Cats & Dogs Home at Claverton who attended the reception.
The Ball which was organised for the seventh year by local events company FAB! featured the Hollywood theme, complete with glitter balls, neon lights, a Hollywood Rat Pack and a great swing band, with music and film across the decades. The 2011 ball is already in the planning!
