BATH BUSINESS WOMEN SHINE AT AWARDS!
A Bath business woman has won a double award at this years’ Bath Business Women’s Association awards held recently at a glittering luncheon at Bailbrook House, with a packed room of members and guests looking on.
Julie Cooper, Director of local event management company FAB!, picked up the double award when she collected the BBWA Inspirational Woman in Business Award from Lizzie Heffer, Marketing Director of Thring Townsend Lee & Pembertons, the company who sponsored the award. This was closely followed by the top award of BBWA Business Woman of the Year 2009 presented by Sarah Irvine, Managing Director of Bath News & Media who have been a major supporter.
Julie started FAB! with her business partner Andrew Wright just seven years ago after working in the events industry for many years and travels all over the country putting a variety of events in place. The company is very hands on, working with charity and private events of all shapes and sizes. Julie is very proud of the bespoke service FAB! give and enjoys working with the different groups in the city from the Chamber of Commerce, to Quartet and of course the BBWA of which she is the present Vice Chair.
The judges had a hard task this year with double the number of nominees, however, they felt that Julie’s dedication to the job, professionalism, humour and work within the community around Bath was deserving of the top award, particularly in what has been a difficult year in the industry..
Other well deserved winners of BBWA Awards were, Lynette Morrison of Tailored for You who won Best Start Up Business; Tessa Kirby of Energy by Tessa took the BBWA Innovation Award; the team at Mogers were winners of the BBWA Best Marketing Campaign; Jo Francis-Pope from Marine Ecological Surveys won the Environmental Award and Jan Douglas-Bate from Focus Councelling won the BBWA Business in the Community Award.
Television presenter Ali Vowles from BBC Points West took charge of proceedings for the day and the event was organised by FAB!
Managing Director of Bath News & Media, Sarah Irvine who presented the top award, said she was delighted that the Bath Chronicle were supporting these annual awards and would continue to do so. Editor, Sam Holliday was again one of the judging panel and felt that it was important to highlight and celebrate the diverse businesses run by women in the Bath area.
Membership of the BBWA continues to grow in the city and for anyone wanting to join they should contact the BBWA on 08444 154 880.
